20 Cigarettes - 20 Sigarette

Picture
Last night I watched “20 Cigarettes”, one of the Italian film festival movies.

It is based on director Aureliano Amadei's 2003 experiences in Iraq and tells about the story of a young anarchist and anti-war activist who fly to Iraq to assist a family friend to make a movie about the Italian military “ peace mission”.

It definitely offers a different take on the war in Iraq, it doesn’t discuss the subject as much; it just shows the lightness of the character who leaves for Iraq without knowing anything about it and doesn’t seem to care or understand much about it even when there.

I found this movie true, maybe simple but sincere, without political rhetoric. It also shifts comfortably from comedy to drama making laugh and weep some tears. The director used good humor and a great sense for humanity, two aspects that represent Romans very well.

Well done Amadei ! I definitely put this movie into the “Not to miss” list.

Watch the trailer in Italian here below

A presto,
Jessica
