Three Months Back Home, Still Daydreaming of Italy

It's hard to believe that three months have already passed since my family and I said arrivederci to beautiful Italy and returned to Australia.
Since coming back, a nostalgic feeling continues to linger with me, and I can’t seem to shake it off.

This is a new experience for me after coming back home. I'm trying to decipher whether it's because we spent a more extended period there than usual or if, without realizing it, I had missed so much of the things I got to see and experience during this trip.

After being away from Italy for five years, I may have started forgetting the beauty of my wonderful country – its rich history, vibrant culture, and warm-hearted people! I've come to appreciate how even the simplest things can emanate so much beauty there. It's a place where every cobblestone street holds a story, and every plate of pasta feels like a work of art. I've missed this so much!

In those three months, I lived every moment with such intensity that now, I find myself craving for what I had while there and can’t seem to find here. It's not just about the places; it's about the atmosphere, the culture, and the distinct flavour of life that is uniquely Italian.

How can beauty be so diverse? How many shades of beauty are there? I'd say infinite. Australia and Italy are both amazing places, full of beauty everywhere, but they are also two very different worlds. As much as I love Australia and its natural landscapes, I catch myself yearning for all those details, big and small, that make Italy so extraordinary. The architecture, the history, the people – they all play a part in creating the tapestry of Italy's unique beauty.

It's as if I'm on a quest to bring a piece of Italy back with me, not just in photographs but in the way I see and appreciate the world around me. The magic of Italy has left an indelible mark on my heart, and the echoes of its beauty continue to shape my perspective, even here in Australia.

Will I ever shake off these feelings? Or should I just embrace them and explore where they might take me in life?

More reflections to come soon,

Ciao for now...
Jessica
